We strongly believe in the collaborative nature of science. In order to facilitate rapid development in our fields and improve accessibility to others, we will try to make all developed software and hardware open-source and freely available. We hope this encourages researchers pursuing similar imaging applications to adapt our designs and software to fit their needs. We have designed an imaging system which combines ultrasound and spectroscopic photoacoustic imaging in a hand-held probe. The commercial availability and diversity of photoacoustic clinical imaging systems is highly limited. Our open source setup combines a research ultrasound system and a tunable laser for a highly customizable photoacoustic platform.

HIFU Nanodroplet Activation

We have designed an imaging and activation platform to use high intensity focused ultrasound for acoustic droplet vaporization. Our open source non-water bath set up allows for handheld HIFU activation and precisely aligned imaging of nanodroplets.
